Mold making is a metal casting process that shares similarities to die casting. Metal Mold making (i.e. casting), like die casting, uses a metal mold that can be reused for several thousand cycles. Since the molten metal is poured and not forcibly injected, mold casting is often referred to as gravity die casting. Once the molten metal is poured into the mold, it is clamped shut. After the metal cools and solidifies into the desired part shape, the mold is opened and trimmed.
